SunGate developed its growing list of Core Technologies to energize the marketplace. Each was selected for its distinctiveness and breadth of potential in existing and new applications. All of the SunGate Core Technologies are available for Plano and Rx eyewear, providing a range of flexibility never before possible.
These technologies are available for licensing and product application in their existing varieties or can be utilized as the starting point for an InnoVision™ Development Program. The current list of SunGate Core Technologies includes:

ColorMag™ Spectral Amplification Technology Imagine adding a 4th dimension to the objects you see, one based solely on color, and you begin to understand ColorMag technology. It is an exclusive SunGate technology that provides the wearer with color-based, dimensional contrast enhancement. ColorMag amplifies primary colors, lifting them out of the world around you for an amazing new type of vision.
ColorMag technology has clear application to sporting uses such as shooting and sailing, where objects with low detectability against their background, are lifted out of a scene and delivered into plain view. Industrial and Safety applications easily translate this benefit as well.
ColorMag also gives lenses a unique appearance. The technical properties of the lens allow it to change its apparent color based on the source of the incident light. For example, a lens appearing gray while outdoors may appear red, green or even brown indoors, depending on the ambient light source. Only the imagination limits the application of this ColorMag property.
Neutral-IR™ Infrared Protection Technology blocks the radiative heating of the eye that may occur with prolonged exposure to the sun. The affects of intense IR exposure are well known through industrial experience, and several sources now raise a concern with lower-level, long-term, exposure to IR from the sun. SunGate's Neutral-IR technology offers Shade 2+ protection in accordance with ANSI Z87.1, combined with improvements including:,
- Availability on a polycarbonate Rx lens
- Neutral Gray and Brown colors in addition to the basic Green
- The ability to combine IR protection with other lens characteristics and coatings
Neutral-IR is the first neutral color IR protective product in the market. For industrial applications, the technology allows pure color representation of wires, lines and other objects where accurate color observation is critically important. It also presents an opportunity to incorporate IR protection into everyday eyewear within the preferred style trends for gray and brown lenses.
ColorTrue™ Uniform Density Technology obsoletes eyewear tinting for high efficiency laboratories. Instead of 30 minutes in a dye bath, a lens with ColorTrue technology is complete as soon as it has been surfaced, as if you were processing a clear lens. Clean, consistent colors with:- No Tinting

ShadeSelect™ Photochromic Technology takes the traditional light responsive features of photochromics to a new audience. The benefits of photochromic lenses are well known: proportional sensitivity to ambient light, which reduces the need to carry multiple sets of eyewear, or to continuously remove and replace sunwear. SunGate's exclusive ShadeSelect™ technology introduces a new source of photochromics with the additional benefit of color selection. Existing color conversions include:
- Gray1 to Gray3
- Purple1 to Purple3
- Yellow to Brown

InPhase™ Polarization Technology adds the industry's best anti-glare capabilities to the SunGate technology line. Polarized lens' customary benefits for driving, boating or skiing can be enhanced with custom combinations. Choices such as Photochromic-Polarizing lenses, or Polarized-ColorMag lenses are now possible. Our ability to add this high performance feature to virtually any lens, and with virtually any other Core Technology, offers new options to the market.
